Montabi Tier Lists

Rankings that respect random drafts, evolution timing, and which trainer you lead.

Tier List Hub Overview

Montabi tier lists go wrong when they pretend every player sees the same roster every run. In reality you pick one of three random starters from your unlocked pool, evolve at level 5 and level 10, tame extras with biscuits, and layer a Trainer kit on top—Student* reposition, Fighter Resonance, or Chef Flavor. This hub collects RNG-aware rankings: we score role value, early-account unlock strength, and how often a line solves grid problems—not invented patch numbers or fake absolute meta.

Use the child pages for detail:

  • Starter tier list —all 22 starter lines considered as draft options, not as if you own every card day one.
  • Synergy tier list —pairs and engines (movement, bleed, control) that stay strong under different leaders when drafts cooperate.
  • Montapedia guide —in-game compendium for 60+ Montabi, evolution forms, and how the wiki complements collection.

How we rank

S–tier entries do consistent work across many seeds: they stabilize the 3×3 grid, protect the Trainer from run-ending hits, or scale into mid-run elites without demanding perfect shops. A–tier entries are excellent when a draft or evolution path aligns—think bleed (Ruffin) with a leader who controls movement, or Tonkey when something can slide him into payoff rows. B-tier and below is not “unusable— it often means situational, unlock-late, or needs a specific trainer like Chef flavor setups.

We explicitly do not claim a single best team for all of Montabi. Run RNG, account unlock progress, and whether you are learning on Student versus pushing Fighter frontlines all move lines up or down a band.

Systems that move tiers between runs

FactorWhy it matters for tiers
Triple starter draftYou cannot tier a line you are not offered; rankings emphasize flexible starters.
Evolution draftsLevel 5 and 10 picks can jump a line an entire band mid-run.
Trainer choiceMovement payoffs rise with Student; burst lines rise with Fighter; setup lines rise with Chef.
Biscuit tamesOne tame can fix a bad draft for a boss—synergy tiers note those swing picks.
Map events & cafesLow-heal seeds punish glass teams; tier notes call out survivability.

Named examples (from public previews)

Official and preview coverage name-check Montabi to illustrate mechanics without publishing full stat sheets here:

  • Tonkey —movement-powered self buffs; loves reposition tools.
  • Ruffin —bleed that punishes enemy movement.
  • Vem —vending-machine themed control and soda punishment.
  • Kyuchi —fox swordfighter aggressive profile.
  • Karabi —noodle cup fantasy that fits meal-flavored Chef routes.

These names anchor synergy discussion; they are not automatic S-tier on every account.

Using this hub with trainers and guides

Trainer choice is a multiplier, not a replacement for Montabi tiers. Read the Trainers Hub before forcing Fighter-tier aggression with a Chef unlock still days away. When a starter page disagrees with your experience, check whether your account unlocks, evolution luck, or map seed differ—that is expected in a roguelike deckbuilder.

Montabi shipped August 6, 2026 (Mankibo, Akupara Games) on Steam/PC, Xbox, and Switch as single-player content. Tier lists here will evolve as the community maps all 60+ Montabi; sub-pages will note when a ranking is early-access community consensus versus mechanic-driven certainty from previews.

Update philosophy

When patches land, we adjust criteria text first, then band placements. We avoid churning letters for one viral clip. If two lines swap places but stay in the same role bucket, the list may stay stable with clearer notes—that honesty matches how roguelike metas actually develop.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Montabi questions.

Is this an official Montabi tier list?

No. It is a fan wiki framework ranking role value and synergy under run RNG, using public previews and launch-week community learning—not developer balance charts.

Why do starters change tier every run?

Because you only see three random starters and evolution drafts differ. A line ranked A-tier is strong on average, not guaranteed when a seed denies key cards.

Should I reroll until I get S-tier starters?

Usually no. Montabi rewards learning lines and trainers; rerolling wastes time unless you are speedrunning a known route with full unlocks.

Do trainers have their own tier list?

We cover trainers on the Trainers Hub as playstyles, not S-F power rankings. Pick Student to learn, then Fighter or Chef for preference after unlocks.

Where are weapon or item tiers?

Equipment and charms matter, but this hub focuses on starter lines and team synergies first—add dedicated pages later if the wiki expands.
